On the 16th of November Stephan Murphy from InspireIreland came into our school to do a poetry workshop with us. We at the start we played simple games, First we had to write down everything we wanted to do to someone we hate. This gave us an opportunity to express our anger on paper. The second game was to write our likes and dislikes of boys and girls. This had some funny outcomes. The third and final game was to write 5 "I am" sentences. This was hard because you were writing about yourself and you didn't want to be too egotistical.
After Lunch we watched a sad poem/rant about unfairness in society. It outlined bullies and their victims. We learned that you should never judge anyone and that you can't compare your problems to anyone else no matter what you're going through. Finally we had to summit a poem to InspireIreland. We could write a poem about anything and it could be any length. I ended up writing a poem about Ireland.
I feel that this workshop was useful for my leaving cert English, I feel that I know a bit more about poetry now.
