On the 24th of April the TY year and 4 lucky teachers got to go to Barcelona. We left at 1 o'clock in the morning heading to Dublin airport. We checked in around 4 and our flight was at 6:15. We were divided up on the plane and had to sit beside strangers. Our flight Was about 2 hours long. We were checked out of the airport around 10 o clock.
Our first day began with a trip to a science museum. This museum was focused on the physics side if science and how it is used. It was very interesting and interactive. After we went on a walking tour of Barcelona, we saw the church that been in construction for nearly 200 years. We got an hour of free time to do a bit of shopping, there are a lot of street level shops in Barcelona. We then got a bit of a bus tour of the city showing off the architecture. The bus tour brought us to cable cars which gave us a birds eye view of the city. When our sight seeing was done we headed to the hotel in saloo, it was an hour and a half away. We got our rooms and freshened up for our evening activity which was bowling, this was great fun with everyone competing to get the highest score out of the year.
On the second day, we stayed in saloo. Our first stop was the guadi museum, Guadi was an architect that designed most of the architecture around saloo, we got phones that played an audio tour of the museum. We then got 2 hours free time to do a bit of shopping, there were alot less shops then were in Barcelona.
When we were finished with the city we adventured to PortAventura. This was an amusement park with a whole range of roller coasters to choose from. The park was huge it took is nearly an hour just to find the exit. After exciting PortAventura fun didn't stop because we were heading to the beach. The beach was very much like a summers day beach in Ireland because we only got there at 6 o clock in the evening. When we got sick of the cold water we headed to the swimming pool for a little warmer water. In the evening we got an hour and a half to go around the shops around our hotel. We all slept well that night because of our eventful day.
On our last day we went to Tarragona first. This was a city with very vast landscapes, We saw an old fighting arena and a church. We got even more free time here. When we were finished Tarragona we headed back to Barcelona. We had only two places to see here before we went home and they were Camp Nou and Maragarum shopping centre. The Nou Camp was massive, we went on a tour of all of it. We saw their trophy room, conference room, stand, dressing rooms and even got to go pitch side and sit in the dugouts. After the tour of The Nou Camp we went to our last stop the Maragrum Shopping centre. It was pretty big with a hole rang of shops. I bought a Barcelona jersey and present for my family. With the trip being over the last we head to do was go home, We checked in to the airport a 6, Our flight was at 9 and we were in Dublin around 11. We got back to Portumna at 2 o clock in the morning.
This trip was amazing, I really enjoyed the entire trip. The weather was so nice. I had a great time with all my friends. I would recommend this trip to anyone thinking of doing TY
