On the 7th of March, 36 TY students traveled to Fota Wildlife Park in Cork. The bus Journey was 2 hours and 45 minutes long. We left At 7:15 and arrived at 10:00. The first thing we did was team building exercises, these were simple games to build trust in one another.
Our tour began soon after the games. We first got a tour of back stage area of the park, this was where they prepared their food for the animals, they had two special fridges one for meat and one for vegetables. They told what they gave to the animals daily. They then showed us the sheds were they kept the animals during the cold weather. The zebras and ostriches were still in the sheds.
With the backstage done we then got a the proper tour. Before lunch we saw giraffes, cheetahs, monkeys, seals, flamingos and an eagle, We got to see kangaroos, o'mears and peacocks room freely around the park. You could be food in canteen which was goo because we were all starving
After lunch we got to see some reptiles such as snakes, turtles, lizards and an Iguana. There were frogs, butterflies and fish in the reptile house too. We then went on to see penguins, tigers, lions, rionos and buffaloes. They had a big souvenir shop as well.
We headed home soon after our tour was done but not without a stop to the shops
The day was great, I think we all had a lot of fun and id like to go in the near future.
