On the 20th, 21st, and 22nd the TY year had their trip to Delphi
On the 20th, We took a 3 hour bus journey to Delphi in Co. Mayo. We were greeted by an instructor who told us about the rules and gave us our rooms. The rooms were quite spacious and had comfy beds. We were divided into 2 groups. My group went surfing first, it was a windy day so the waves were good. Although I wasn't very good at it i stood up on the board once. This was probably the funnest activity of the trip. We went back to the resort and got our dinner which was chicken curry. We then played a game of tag rugby with another school which we came out triumphant.
Our evening activity consisted of loads of mini games in the hall. This left a lot to be desired, the best part was the music. We got milk and cookies before we headed off to bed.
On the 21st, This was the day we did our long and treacherous hike. We headed off with a packed lunch and what ever we saw fit to bring. The hike was 17 km which consisted of going uphill and downhill, off road and on road and we even got to scale a mountain. The hike took must of the day, When we got back to the resort, we got baked pasta and bolognese. Our evening activity that night was a camp fire, this involved singing songs around the camp fire, which would have been better if we had more musical talent but we made do with what we had. We got a chocolate muffin before we went to bed.
On the 22nd, which was our last day, My group got to tackle the high ropes. I personally wouldn't be too fond of heights, so I struggled a bit. I battled through my fear and conquered the high rope time trial, leap of faith and the the free fall. When we got back to the resort we hand soup and sandwiches. This was our last meal and soon after we said our goodbyes and hoped on the bus back to Portumna.
I really enjoyed Delphi, I think it was good team bonding experience for us all. I learned a lot about myself and others in my peer group. I would highly recommend going to Delphi for anyone who is interested.
